Bred for over 200 years as a farm dog in Munster,
Ireland the Soft Coated Wheaton Terrier was first registered as a breed by the Irish Kennel Club in 1937 and by the English
Kennel Club in 1943.
This is a natural terrier with strong sporting
instincts, a hardy dog of strong constitution. The natural, soft, silky coat is the shade of ripening wheat and falls
in lose curls or waves. Although abundant all over the body, the coat is especially profuse on the head and legs and
there is no seasonal change in length or texture.
The coat does not shed but needs careful grooming.
This delightful, affectionate and intelligent companion is good tempered and full of confidence and humor. |
